The prestigious AudemarsPiguet AP, was founded in 1875 in the Vallee' de Joux by Jules-Louis Audemars, born March 28, 1851 and Edward-Auguste Piguet born May 19, 1853, but its current day headquarters reside in Lebrassus, Switzerland!
These young men were also known to be childhood friends and they both shared a passion to master and create handmade timepieces with many movements and complications. 143 years later the legendary AP collections are still handmade and amazingly expensive!!!
Legendary Collections...
Royal Oak Offshore
AP Royal Oak Offshore made its introduction debut in 1972, designed by Gerald Genta. It is considered the most popular vintage and prestigious watch sold on today's market! After AP 20th anniversary mark of the Royal Oak, Audemars-Piguet hired Emmanuel Gueit to design a new watch making it the Royal Oak Offshore. Although, the Offshore had a much larger case and was known to be more durable than the original Royal Oak. The estimated market price for a Royal Oak Offshore may be around $306,000, if not more!
The AP Royal Oak Offshore Lebron James limited edition was introduced in the fall of 2013, and there were only 600 of these limited edition timepieces made worldwide. Not to mention a price tag that's no lower than $52,000 and it's more than likely a pre-owned version!
The color choice of light gray for the dial and alligator strap with the rose gold came from Lebron himself. This AP limited edition is quietly set with diamonds, the push pieces and the winding crown are made with black ceramic. The case is in 18kt rose gold featuring a brushed titanium bezel and i could on and on!
Millenary
The AP Millenary collection made its debut in 1993. This one of a kind design gave clients and viewers a 3 dimensional take on a standard watch movement with oval cases and sapphire crystal. Audemars-Piguet says their caliber 4104 is reversed to allow many components to be viewed on the dial. AP Millenary watches share the case and a very unique Cotes de Geneve across the movement dial!
The Jules Audemars
The AP Jules Audemars collection named after one of the founders, Jules Audemars, took a different route from traditional Audemars-Piguet designs. Audemars created 20 very complex movements in 1875 and used them as collateral when he and Piguet began their company in 1881. These movements were the beginning of the legendary AP. All the watches in this collection were circular with well known complications that are present, meaning the tourbillon, minute repeater, and perpetual calender! The estimated retail price for this AP collection may be around $996,000!
Jules-Louis Audemars and Edward-Auguste Piguet in their prime created a truly valuable legacy that continues to live on 143 years and counting! I must admit that anyone who owns or purchases an AP has most definitely gained a luxurious and royal privilege of spectacular craftsmanship!
